The best way to get referrals is by focusing on creating a great experience for your customers. Everyone is looking for ways to “force” a referrals but in reality getting referrals is easy.

I believe it depends if you’re selling a product or service. For instances, if it’s a service you want to do a tremendous job. You want to over deliver and make your costumers super super happy. Because here’s what I realized: even tough there’s ways to ask for referrals on your clients, and get them to email their friends and contacts, these referrals are usually not very powerful or spontaneous.

And so, it all comes down to these four words:

Make your customers happy.

Everyone else is trying to force referrals and automate everything. To find a shortcut and search for a system. But you should be spending 100% of your time building a great relationship with your clients, over-delivering, adding more value and making them happy.

And this happen to me so many times, and I wasn’t even thinking about getting referrals, but I was so focused on their project that I delivered great results.

Believe me. They will be so satisfied with your work that they will naturally reach out to their friends and recommend you. Before you know what’s going on your happy customers will start emailing their friends and call you a “secret tip” 🙂 

Natural and genuine referrals are by far the most powerful. They come from people you know.

To start a business you need to be great at two things:

  1. Selling
  2. Making your customers happy

If you focus on those two things, your business will grow and you will get a ton of organic referrals and word of mouth marketing. Always be adding value. That’s the golden rule.
