There’s a new sales notification popups software on the block.
And it’s called Proof.
But let me first explain why sales notification popups are great to create social proof.

Imagine you’re on your way to a store to get a cheap deal during Black Friday.
Once you arrive at the store you see hundreds of cars parked outside. As always with Black Friday, there’s a huge crowd of people streaming in and out of the store. Immediately, you pick up your pace and run into the store in order to make sure the product you want isn’t sold out.
In the store you see hundreds of people grabbing products off the shelves and rushing to the counter. Congratulations, you’re in the midst of a full-blown buying frenzy.
Inevitably you start acting the same way.
How to Create a Buying Frenzy
It’s possible to create a Black Friday type buying frenzy on your website. Of course it’s much harder because online buyers are isolated and have no idea how many other people are shopping. There are some things you can do to contribute to a buying frenzy on your website
The three elements of a buying frenzy:
- Social Proof
- Urgency
- Scarcity
Robert Caldini has written about these psychological triggers in his book Persuasion.
As human beings we respond to certain triggers in a predictable way. For example, let’s say you’re standing in front of two restaurants. One of them is completely empty and the other one is packed with people. You will immediately assume the busy restaurant is better because of something called social proof. We look to other people for reassurance and guidance.
If we see lots of people with a particular product, we are more likely to want it, too.
That’s just the way it is.
Urgency on the other hand puts time pressure on us. Deadlines and countdown timers are great ways to create urgency. In the face of urgency, we make act faster because we don’t want to miss out. Scarcity and urgency often go hand in hand online.
When something is limited or rare its perceived value increases.
That’s why gold and other precious metals, but also diamonds and four-leaved clovers, are so valuable to us. The less there is of something the more valuable it appears. That’s what scarcity is all about. With a sales notification popups software you can hit all three triggers.
In fact, you can almost recreate a Black Friday type buying frenzy online. Instead of seeing customers sweeping shelves empty and running around like chickens with their head cut off, your website will show a little popup notification whenever someone has purchased.
This helps you create social proof.
“Oh, there’s a lot of other people buying this product. It must be popular!”
And it also creates urgency and scarcity if you combine the sales notification popups software with a deadline or a limited stock. If there’s only 500 products available but people are buying every few minutes, the product will be out of stock pretty soon and you’ll possibly miss out if you don’t act now. As you can see scarcity and urgency feed each other here.
So how can you get one of these for your website?
Sales Notification Popups Software for Shopify, Clickfunnels and Any Other Website
There are multiple ways to implement sales notifications on your site. In this article I’ll discuss three scenarios of using sales notification popups. Most people reading this blog are either using Shopify or Clickfunnels in their business, so that’s what I’m going to focus on.
1) How to Use Sales Notifications on Shopify
There are tons of apps that do this.
The most popular one is probably Sales Pop by Beeketing.
I don’t think it’s necessarily the best one but it’s popular because it’s free. But if you do a quick search on Shopify’s app store you’ll find a ton of sales notification popups software to choose from. I’ve used Sales Pop in the past but I believe most people are misusing the tool.
Sales Pop allows you to create sales notifications even if nobody is buying on your store.
In my opinion this is deceptive marketing.
Personally, I don’t feel good about using fake sales notifications on my store. I’d rather build up some traffic, get the sales rolling and then start using real sales notifications from real purchases. The great thing about Shopify is that there’s an app for everything.
And you have plenty of sales notification apps to choose from apart from Sales Pop.
2) Sales Notifications on Clickfunnels
If you’re using Clickfunnels you can use a software called Proof.
Proof can be used to create opt-in notifications or sales notifications. The app simply detects the email forms on your Clickfunnels page and then creates a notification for every email form submission. A sale is essentially just an email form submission.
Here’s how it works.
Once you’ve signed up for Proof, you’ll be presented with a tracking code.
Simply copy the tracking code and paste it in the tracking code section within Clickfunnels. You don’t have to paste it to each page individually. Luckily, Clickfunnels has a tracking code section for the entire funnel. You can find it by clicking on “Settings” in the top right.
The field you’re looking for is called “Head Tracking Code”.
Once you’ve pasted the Proof code, you’re ready to setup your notifications.
This can be done within the Proof dashboard.
Simply customize your sales notifications the way you want to. You can change the text of the product, choose if you want to show it on mobile or only desktop and select to show maps or thumbnails. When you’re done with the setup just toggle your notifications live.
I recently used Proof to create sales notifications for a promotion with my friend and business partner Anno Domini Beats. You can see the sales notifications in the bottom left corner.
Can you see how this contributes to a buying frenzy?
I get nervous just looking at it and I’m not even a customer. As you can see, the app takes real-time sales and broadcasts them in the form of popups. It shows the location of the customer along with the name of the product and how recently they bought.
Proof can be used on any landing page that uses email forms.
If you’re using WooCommerce or LeadPages or something similar, you can set up sales notifications as well. Personally, I haven’t used Proof outside of Clickfunnels because there was no reason for it. As you probably know already, I mainly use Shopify and Clickfunnels.
So if you’re using something other than those two tools I recommend you make the switch. Let me know in the comments with sales notification popups software you’re planning to use?

I HATE PROOF. Any way to STOP it? I use all known Chrome pop-up blockers. I LEAVE every site with them. Nothing like something popping up every few seconds to drive ya nuts. ANY help? Cos it’s losing biz!!

Hi, nice article. I can see that the narrative around sales notification popups sounds great – the empty cafe vs the full one, or the Black Friday analogy. But have you come across any objective proof of increased sales/engagement? One thing I have learned with online marketing is that our intuition is generally rubbish and you have to have data based proof. Thanks, Jo
