Don’t panic if you lose your momentum every once in a while. Success is a series of sprints and not a marathon.
Even the best athletes train cyclic.
They train like crazy for certain periods and seasons, and then they recharge their energy. You can read more about this in the book “The Power of Full Engagement” by Tony Schwartz and Jim Loehr.
In order to perform at your best, you sometimes need to take time off, get some perspective and recharge your internal batteries.
You give your best in short periods of time. You go near exhaustion, or maybe even reach it. And then you take a tactical break. You rest and replenish your energies to come back stronger the next time. You continue doing this, and each new sprint you’ll become stronger.
If you wonder how to not lose motivation in business? This is how you do it.
You don’t work every hour every day. But you take short intervals (10 minutes) between long periods (50 minutes) of work. Or you take longer breaks, like vacations (1-2 weeks), from work (4-8 months).
Success comes in seasons and you have to embrace that fact.
Use the “winter” season in your life and business to reflect, to recharge, to read, to educate yourself and get perspective.
And use the “summer” season for massive execution and focus.
So don’t get obsessed about losing your momentum in these periods. Often you’ll come back much stronger and build even more momentum after a period of reflection and recovery.
Be aware of what “season” you’re in and act accordingly. But never panic or lose your motivation because of lack of self awareness.
