Today’s question comes from one of my YouTube followers and his asking: “I want to write a book: health recipes and cooking. And I want to sell it from $3 to $4 each, but I don’t think I can advertise it and get $1000 per month from it. Is that even possible? If so, how can I achieve that?”
Nobody gets rich from selling books anymore.
That’s the truth.
Most authors, speakers and gurus that write books don’t make their main stream of income from their books. Books are there to convert audience and subscribers into buyers, and then up-sell those buyers to online training’s and so forth. Books are basically used for lead generation and trip-wire offers.
So books can be a great way to make a lot of money if you know how. Here’s a few tips on how to sell books online:
- Positioning – Being an author and having a book positions you as an expert, helps you with your branding and will translate in you selling a lot more of your high-ticket products and services
- Lead Generation – Selling books can be a great way to generate leads, because you can add lead generation offers inside your book (like checklists, cheat sheets, downloads etc. with a link to a squeeze page people can visit for additional resources on the internet)
- Tripwire offers – Free plus shipping offers or massively reduced e-book sales can serve you as great tripwire to get people into your sales funnel, break even with costs and make money in the back-end
These are three reasons why you should sell books online. But don’t expect to get rich from the actual book sales.
Everyday I get messages of people asking me about selling books online. And many of them believe they can get rich from it. But it’s not really that way.
It’s crucial to understand the big picture 🙂
