When I started out as a music producer in my early twenties, I was a nobody in the industry. I had no connections. I wasn’t signed to a label and no famous artists knew about my instrumentals.
So the first thing I did was to build a network really fast.
I reached out to underground and independent artists on a daily basis and offered them free beats for their new songs and albums.
I spent hours every day contacting people on Myspace (yes, that’s how long ago that was) and later on Facebook. As I was a nobody in the scene, I had to make a name by doing free work.
And that’s just what I did.
I worked with dozens of underground and independent artists for FREE. I offered a ton of value. And soon these artists were referring me to their friends and labels.
Later on I also reached out to music producers for collaborations.
Every single day I was hustling and networking.
I gave my work and dedication, instead of asking.
I built my YouTube channel to almost 15,000 subs and eventually ended up working with some of my favourite hip hop artists like Reks, Termanology, Vinnie Paz from Jedi Mind Tricks and many others.
