In this article I’ll share the best place to get free Instagram stock photos.
As someone who runs multiple businesses and is always experimenting with new marketing strategies, I need to be able to quickly set up professional looking Instagram pages.
Let me give you an example:
I recently tested several drop shipping products in completely different niches.
And I used Instagram influencers to promote my products.
Why Having A General Instagram Account Isn’t Suited For Multi-Niche Instagram Influencer Marketing
Having a general Instagram account is very ineffective for this type of multi-niche influencer marketing, because the audiences are so different and I can only post one link in the bio.
Here’s the dilemma:
As you can see, this is very ineffective.
You can only place one link in the bio of your Instagram page, which means before you book a promotion in a different niche, you have to change the link or things get messy.
And whenever you do this, any visitors that trickle in from past influencer promotions will likely find a completely unrelated link in the bio that takes them to a product they aren’t interested in.
But there’s other reasons.
When you do Instagram marketing the right way, you will gain a lot of followers.
With only one Instagram account your following will be scattered.
You’ll have followers from niche A, niche B and niche C.
Any attempt to post relevant content on a general Instagram account will fail. If you post something that’s interesting for one niche, it will be irrelevant for the others. This renders your Instagram following useless. You won’t be able to generate any back-end money from it.
So what’s the solution?
Doing Instagram Influencer Marketing the Right Way by Creating Separate Instagram Pages for Each Niche
Set up a separate Instagram account for each niche you’re targeting.
This makes your influencer marketing a lot more effective since you can tailor each Instagram account to the niche you’re targeting. This will greatly increase your conversions.
Here’s how to do multi-niche Instagram influencer marketing:
Can you see how everything is streamlined?
Influencers in niche A will send their traffic to your Instagram account A which has a link in the bio that takes people to product page A. Everything is set up perfectly.
The problem arises when you do Influencer marketing in 3-10 different niches.
It’s a huge hassle.
To fill an Instagram page’s empty feed you need at least 9 photos. So if you are targeting 3 niches you need 27 photos. And for 10 niches you need a whooping 90 photos.
That’s a whole lot of photos.
So let’s talk about where to get photos.
You want to avoid using copyrighted photos.
This includes any photos you find through Google search, but also photos you find on other Instagram pages. Instagram is one big “rip off” feast where everyone is using other peoples photos and infringing on someone’s copyright. Usually with little or no consequences at all.
However, to appear like a trustworthy brand, your photos need to look professional.
Just using everyone else’s photos will make you seem like an influencer.
But you want to look like a brand.
And you need to use the type of photos a brand would use.
So where do you find this type of photos?
Where to Get Free Instagram Stock Photos that Look Professional for Your Instagram Business Pages
The best solution is Burst by Shopify.
This is a free creative-commons image database that Shopify provides.
What’s really cool about Burst is that most photos can be used for free without attribution.
More importantly, the pictures don’t look like regular free Instagram stock photos. If you look on sites like Pixabay, you’ll find a ton of photos but most of them look kind of cheesy and try hard.
They aren’t really suited for e-commerce sites.
Remember, you want to make sure your Instagram page appears like an established brand.
Your pictures need to communicate authority, trust and professionalism.
Let’s say you want to find some model shots for your Instagram page. You can simply go to Burst, search for “Models” and browse through a whole catalogue of photos.
You’ll find something for most niches.
Even if you can’t find any photos related to your niche, just having some professional looking photos will make make your Instagram page appear like a trustworthy brand .
How to Use Free Instagram Stock Photos and Appear Like a Brand
First impressions matter.
Here’s an example of a recent Instagram page I built:
As you can see most of the shots are related.
You’ll find the same models in multiple pictures which makes it look like I hired them.
In reality, a lot of Burst photos have been shot by the same photographer with the same models. This is a big advantage because you can find photos that go together.
If you’re setting up an Instagram page for dog lovers, just search for dog pictures.
Here’s an example for the dog niche:
So why is this so effective?
Because it let’s you set up professional looking Instagram pages in under 5 minutes.
Instead of having to spend a ton of time searching for photos on various sites, and being worried about copyright and attribution, Shopify’s Burst takes care of all that for you.
This is especially awesome if you’re doing Instagram influencer marketing.
And if you’re running a drop shipping business.
It allows you to quickly populate your Instagram page with relevant pictures that stand out.
How to Take Things to the Next Level and Build a Real Brand with Unique, High-Quality Product Shots
You don’t have to take any photos to start out.
Instead, you can jump right into Instagram influencer marketing and start making sales.
Of course, what you’re building here is not a “real” brand.
It’s merely something that appears like an established brand at first sight.
When starting out this is sufficient. However, if you’re planning to build a real brand, you should put in a lot more effort, order products, hire models and get unique product shots.

Really excellent post. Opening a new Instagram account in a few days. Thanks for the tip on Burst by Shopify. I suppose if ones Shopify Shop is in the fashion field, then I guess you can publish your own photos from your Product listing if the clothes for example are worn by Models
