Are you really that scared to start a business? Wait… better question: Should you be scared when starting a business?
If you’ve been dabbling in business for a while, reading a ton of books but never take that crucial step and actual start executing, it’s likely that you are dealing with a willpower and productivity problem.
Productivity is one of the most important business skills.
Ideas are nice, but it’s execution that separates the winners from the losers and productivity is the only thing that allows you to execute. It’s the tool that keeps you at the top of your game.
It’s likely that your brain has learned to be lazy, to procrastinate and to stay safe over time. Your prefrontal cortex hasn’t been exercised enough while your lizard brain has been having the biggest party of it’s life up until now: Laziness, procrastination, friends, booze, distractions, sex, smoking, stimulation and similar things.
Your lizard brain doesn’t want you to succeed. The lizard brain is risk and short term oriented. It makes you withdraw at the first sight of possible failure.
It doesn’t give a fuck if you succeed.
You have to literally grab your lizard brain by the balls and drag it through the finish line if you ever want to achieve something in life. That’s the only way.
And the way you do that is by exercising self-control over your lizard brain’s urges, excuses and addictions by activating other parts of your brain that are responsible for willpower and making decisions. You have to train your willpower everyday.
Start taking baby steps in business and don’t worry about doing perfect or even succeeding. Your only goal right now should be to strengthen your willpower muscle with massive imperfect action.
Action, Action, Action!
Now go out there and kick some ass!
