I know it’s a hard thing to do: focusing on your goals without distractions. There’s a ton of new and engaging activities out there calling for you. There always will be. So how do you stay focused?
It’s hard in the beginning, but just like anything else it gets easier with practice. What you need to practice is laser focus. That’s the skill you want to have.
There’s a million opportunities out there and part of being an entrepreneur is to have strong boundaries and stay focused without getting distracted by the “shiny objects” surrounding you.
If you’re having troubles staying focused on your current business idea, chances are that you aren’t committed enough.
To succeed in business you need a tunnel vision.
Once you go deep enough down the rabbit hole, and you have spent a tremendous amount of time and energy on executing an idea you have, you stop paying attention to the noise surrounding you.
Don’t try and fight the distractions around you (you can’t, they will always be there), instead double down on your commitment. You must focus your vision on what you want, and not on what you don’t want.
Once you have that tunnel vision, you won’t notice them anymore. Distractions will be there, but you will not be so tempted anymore. It’s just like following a diet: there will be a ton of shitty food around, but as time passes your cravings will be much more under your control.
Conclusion: Invest so much time, energy and effort into your primary business idea until you build so much momentum that everything else around you just fades into the background and isn’t noticeable.
You have to HUSTLE to solve your problems.
Distraction is certainly one of them.
You need to ACT. You need to emerge yourself in your work.
